Inverter monitoring panel

The other day when I checked my motorhome and I went to turn on an interior light and it seemed dim, I checked my inverter monitoring panel and the monitoring lights were blinking all over the panel and not in any order. I went ahead and started the engine and also the generator and they both started fine. both the engine and generator are diesel. My thought is that maybe the house batteries are going bad. The batteries are approx 7 years old and they are Lifeline AGM batteries. Could bad batteries or a bad battery be causing the problem with my inverter panel. Any ideas?

    start simple and check the battery. If bad replace, if good keep checking out the system.

    From your description, you must have a Heart/Xantrex Inverter and remote panel. When the batteries go dead, on the Xantrex type panel, the LED's will indeed scroll all over the place. The fix is to get the Batteries charged up(or replaced if bad), then disconnect the POSITIVE input cable to the Inverter(NO 120 power to the RV!) for 10 minutes and then reconnect. That will reboot the Inverter and the lights should now function correctly, and the Inverter will also start functioning correctly. Doug

    How long had it been sitting before you got back to it. The inverter draws power all the time unless it has a HARD on/off switch like the Prosine line does (not many do) and several other devices on the RV are full powered even when "Disconnected" Propane detectors and such are the most common.

    If it's been sitting long enough the batteries run down.

    7 hyears for AGM's... Low end of "Anticipated life" 10 is about the high end but you might have 'em tested.... My Flooded wet cells (GC-2) lasted 9 years. My AGM's only about 5 Reason number 2 why I'm not a fan of AGM's. Rea$on Number 1 you can likely gue$$ from thi$ po$t.
