Inverter Problem
I've had a problem with the electrical system acting sporadically. I heard the inverter clicking on and off and the TV and the microwave indicator lights would go off and on in sync with the clicking inverter. Talked with the representatives from Xantrex, the maker of the XS400 inverter in my 2010 Jayco Melbourne and they said it was most likely a defective relay. The XS400 is no longer being produced or available anywhere on line except on e-bay that claims to be "manufacture rebuilt". Xantrex does not and has never rebuilt this model, so I'm very reluctant to purchase that item.
Xantrex recommends replacing my defective unit with the Prosine Series 1000 (Model 8061000).
Has anyone done this exchange or something similar? I'm concerned about how complicated the exchange might be including the changing out of the remote switch. Might I be able to use the same wiring going to the remote switch (it appears to be a telephone type wire with that type of plastic clip-in on the ends of the wire).
We live about 120 miles from the nearest RV repair shop so I would like to either do the exchange myself or with the help of a local electrician. Any and all info would be appreciated.
