Can't say for sure, but I think you are talking about a converter. The inverter takes 12 volt power and inverts it back to 120 volts. The converter converts 120 volt power from your plug in into 12 volts. The converter also charges the batteries when plugged in and turned on with the circuit breaker in the 120 volt circuit breaker panel.
