I have driven this route many times over the years, mostly down to Hawkeye football games. (LET'S GO HAWKS) :-)
Here is, IMO, the best route, with everything taken in to account, especially you driving your rig down there.
I-35 south to Hwy 18 east to Hwy 218
I-380 to I-80 and then east to the Quad Cities.
