We run the reverse route SC to WI twice a year. Good things to see are Monmouth Cave in KY, Biltmore (Vanderbilt Mansion) and Carl Sandburg homes near Ashville NC, and Brookgreen Gardens/Attalaya by Huntington Beach State Park (great campground) by Myrtle Beach. Also lots of plantations in SC. Have a great trip.
