Well there is the skyline drive and it is 105 miles long as well as the blue ridge parkway. There are lots of golf courses in WInchester Front Royal area as well as battlefields. You can go east about 50 miles and you can be at Bull Run where it all started. You can go north into into Antentiem as well as east a bit off I 81 is Chancellorsville. ALso Gettysburg is not far away too.
Over by Iowa is the Quad Cities there is Rock Island Armory and museum and they were also a northern prison where lots of southern soldiers died.
