Is 330 HP enough for a 37-40' DP
Seeing a lot of early mid 2000 DP in the 37-40' range with 300-330 HP Cats or Cummings. Is this enough HP? The torque seems to be about 1000 lb/ ft on either. Is this enought? We plan to tow a Jee...

All comes down to weight to power ratio with a side of transmission.
I have 275 HP 660 ft./lbs. torque Cummins with a 6 speed Allison and it does fine with my +/- 25,000 lbs. One of our fellow travelers has the 260 HP 660 ft./lbs. torque Cummins with a 5 speed Allison and +/- 30,000 lbs. and it leaves a lot to be desired.
