I think the first consideration with regards to the "investment" question is: How long do you plan to keep it? Real estate is usually a hold-for awhile investment....which brings me to the next point:
How old are you? No need to answer, just consider the question for yourself. The brutal truth is, the older one is the fewer winters one has left in which to USE such a property. The high turnover rate of retirement community properties may be good for the Real Estate business, but not always so profitable for the buyers. Or their survivors, as the case may be.
