I pretty much do the same thing. I like to know I have as much fuel as possible for the generator to operate as needed. About 5 years ago we were at the cottage on Lake Michigan and had taken the motorhome and a storm hit. Heavy rain with the winds and many down trees. Power out for nearly five days. The motorhome had a full tank of gas, I ran cords from the moho generator to the cottage so sump pumps worked as needed and refrigerator operated. We were comfortable with AC and all the luxury of the motorhome. Mitigated all the potential damage that might have occured. I operated nearly constantly for the 4 plus days and still had over a half tank of gas. A catastrophe potential turned into an adventure.
