I agree! We usually program in 'waypoints' or 'via' on our Garmin to alter the route. Even so, it usually redirects us into town when we're intending to just pass through it, or around it. One we hit the open road (we're in the great plains) we chuck the GPS and use the (hiss) map!
Exactly my experience :M. I know how to program way points but, as you said, if you are not going straight through the way point, the GPS lady goes a bit crazy insisting that you take the next turn to get to the programmed way point.
I'm wondering, is there a way to program the route on Mapquest or Google and download it to the Garmin? Anyone???
