- s_N_sExplorerin reading that article, my answer would be NO. First off GM is not providing the engine for the new Workhorse chassis. JMHO
- rgatijnet1Explorer IIIBack in the 90's, Isuzu supplied the engines for the medium sized trucks sold by both GM and the Isuzu NPR series of trucks. This became the platform for the 1992-1994 Safari Trek line of small RV's with the Isuzu 4 cylinder diesel engine. Those old Safari Treks are still sought after by people that want a small reliable RV.
Perhaps some manufacturer will decide to use this new chassis/engine combination and start a new line of small RV's with GM engines and Isuzu chassis. - 1492ModeratorWorkhorse announced in May that it is planning to re-enter the RV market in 2015 with the W16 and W22 chassis. No specific details on the power plant. This was posted earlier by another member Workhorse to Re-enter RV Chassis Market.

With the info from the article, I'd assume the 6.0L offering was the current GM 6.0L. I have no idea where the 8.8 would come from.
The Workhorse RV Chassis line will be an improved design, offering both 6.0L and powerful 8.8 liter gasoline engines, coupled with an Allison transmission. The 8.8L engine is designed to match diesel towing ability and mileage. - harold1946ExplorerFrom what I have heard the new engine will be provided by Power Solutions International. It is an 8.8 liter (537 cid) V8 of their own design, having over 1,000 ft. lbs of torque. It was first shown at the RVIA Exposition in 2011.

- moishehExplorerGM And Isuzu have been cross branding the N series for many years. But something must have happened to that agreement as Isuzu now markets the trucks themselves and GM does not sell them. We have 2 in our small fleet. One is an Isuzu NPR and the other is a Chevrolet 4500. They are twins!
