I travel with 3 50+ # dogs. Never trust your generator to run air conditioner while you are gone. They can be very unreliable. Your rig can get very hot very fast.
So only thing is like you said. To know the limits of the temps reached inside on particular temps outside. I always look for shade and never leave them or take them on hotter days.
Don't get me wrong I love my van. But for the amount of travel you do may be cheaper to hotel it.
