I can tell you from our experience, Class B's DO increase your mobility with a dog, and touring is still quite possible.

Thanks for the post! Part of my concern is that we aren't very mechanically inclined. SO yes, a reputable dealer would be in order, especially with warranty or service plan.
Yes, the dog thing has some quantifiable impact---we took a short trip and for a sitter, we paid $50. On the other hand there have been trips we didn't take precisely because our sitter wasn't available. Sure we could have put our girl in a kennel but...nah! The sitter has a dog, often boards others, and they all play together.
