Jack Pads

I have homemade pads. Two with four layers of 3/4" plywood and two with five layers of plywood. They are 16" square. I never use mine on hard surfaces unless the pad is out of level quit a bit. The pads then make it easier to raise one end or one side.

Some camp grounds make it a must do to use the jack pads. They have more surface area than the jacks foot. So little or no indentation.

Define hard surface.

If the site was blacktop we used pads as a consideration to the park - didn't leave indents.

On gravel sites we used them because one time it rained for days and even though the site looked hard-packed, the jacks sunk down and were a bear to raise.

It doesn't take much effort to slip pads underneath. We found some black cutting boards and they lasted for years and took up very little space.

I bought a stall Mate at Tractor Supply for 36.00 and cut my own Jack Pads.I cut 24 12 inch Pads.more than enough.

The less you extend landing gear and, or stab jacks, the less your rig shakes. Now pads don't make any difference really, but larger blocks or Lego's stacked work best. I also have a set of screw type jacks for the middle of our fifthwheel hauler, tightens it up.

Lynx levelers is what I like. Nice and lightweight.

Could also just be habit. Just a part of setting up.

Can't ever say I've been to a CG that demanded jack pads.

Ditto. The jack pads on my rig are 11" x 11". Never a problem.
