We use Harvest Hosts from time to time and as a courtesy put down jack pads, even though the ones on mine are ~ 9" diameter. I have an old rubber truck bed mat cut and put those under the plastic lego's.
Also with this recent extreme heat, I've used in CG's that have macadam pads to help prevent sinking into the surface. Otherwise on hard pack I don't use anything.
