I found not the bottom but between the front and lower edge of cushion is where you have to lift.

I had pulled on the front panel and it comes off STRIGHT UP so I had bent the mounting brackets
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE ARM RESTS OFF TO CHANGE FROM SOFA TO BED
