- jeepfreakExplorerHad a 2007 commander and after the n23 recall on the transfer case it would never shift into neutral . Went back 4 times and they could not get it to work correctly. So got rid of it . If you road test it bring a pen with you as that's what you need to shift it ( the transfer case) into neutral. If you do a search on this forum there's a lot of info on jeeps recall screw up. There also very heavy. Mine weighed 5400 lbs. mileage was only 14 on highway. That was with the 4.7 . If it never had the recall done your better off.
- stepdadExplorerThanks folks for your help, I appreciate it. The 2007 Jeep Commander has 77,000 miles on it and we are going to look at it tomorrow. Saw a bunch of pics of it and it looks new inside and out. One would think after 77,000 miles any problems would have been worked out? Yes/no?
~Thanks, John - mccsixExplorergoogle Commander tranny problems and be ready for trouble

Dude, I'm not a f*****g idiot. The Commander is sitting in a used car lot and we haven't looked at it yet. I was just trying to get ahead of the game.
ez on the attitude, dude. IF the vehicle's transfer case has a manually selectable neutral position it should be flat towable. but you will need to check the owner's manual to be certain. you may be able to download a free copy of the owner's manual on jeep.com. - stepdadExplorer

Under Dingy towing? - Ed_CExplorerOur 2006 is tow-able. I think the Commander only came with one transfer case, which has a neutral position. If it has that transfer case it's good to go.
BUT you have to check the owner's manual.
