Keeping ones starting battery charged.
I have to share this valuable information from Joel at LSL Products concerning the Trik-l-Start and the AMP-l-Start:

Hi, Kathy - Thanks for your inquiry.
Both items are intended for the same purpose (i.e., to keep your engine starting batteries charged when you aren't driving the motorhome), and can be used interchangeably.
AMP-L-START has a few additional features that TRIK-L-START lacks:
1. Higher maximum charging current: 15 amps, versus 5 amps for TRIK-L-START. This can come in handy when you need a relatively quick charge (i.e., when running your generator for just a few hours in locations where AC shore power isn't available). The charging circuit is also "smarter" than the one in TRIK-L-START, which further reduces recharge times.
2. Low starting voltage warning alarm: The unit is equipped with a beeper that sounds if your starting batteries become discharged enough to be in danger of sustaining permanent damage (i.e., more than 80 percent discharged). This can be handy if your house battery charger fails, or you forget to turn it on.
3. Warning lights for disconnected starting or house batteries: These lights let you know when your starting or house batteries are not connected to AMP-L-START - very handy for trouble-shooting wiring errors when installing the unit, and for reminding you to leave your battery disconnect switches in their connected positions whenever the coach is occupied.
4. High voltage disconnect: This feature automatically disconnects your starting batteries if the house battery voltage ever becomes excessively high (i.e., more than 14.75 volts). This helps protect your starting batteries and coach electrical system in the event of a house battery charger malfunction, or when performing an equalization charge on your house batteries. The starting batteries are automatically re-connected as soon as your house battery voltage drops to a safe value (approx. 14.5 volts).
However, TRIK-L-START has a few features that AMP-L-START lacks:
1. Pre-attached wires: Tends to make for quicker installation, since you don't have to cut and attach your own wires.
2. Lower cost: $12-$16 less than AMP-L-START.
Either model will work just fine for your application. Ultimately, your choice will be determined by your own preferences and budget.
Hope this helps.
Again, thanks for considering us - If you have any other questions, please holler!
Sincerely,
Joel Donaldson, Gen. Mgr.
