Kitchen Drain Hose/Slide out

I don't know the wisdom of putting the kitchen on the slide, but my 99 Harney Renegade pusher has just that. It's new to me. I fixed a kink in the drain hose, only to find a split lower down. Fooey!

As far as I can tell, I have to work through the drawer openings, which means everything is one handed.

First question: Is there anything I should be doing to make this easier? It almost looks like I can do some of it in the basement, but the stuff in the slide is crazy difficult. I don't see an easy way to remove the side of the sink base.

Second: There seems to be a slot that they expected the wire reinforced hose to go through and stay lined up with. Is there a good method for keeping these from kinking or splitting? Is there another material I should be using?

  • Just purchased a 2006 Forest River Georgetown 340 TS. (Kitchen Slide) Madian Voyage this laber day weekend. Found that I have issues with the flex drain hose, crack at the elbow going up to the two sink goose necks, and also a split midway. RGATIJET1, the flex hose you purchaed to repair job, what did you use to couple the three pieces of flex hose together, if I am visualizing your repair correctly?
  • Replaced the drain down to the tank with wire reinforced flexible hose, and it looks like it will work fine. Wasn't fun. Getting the old hose out was the worst part.
I did discover that they don't glue the horizontals in the cabinate face frames, so you can take those out to allow you to get in there. Score!!
  • I also got a flexible hose at lowes and replaced the split one I had found. Not an easy job, lot of it you cant see what you are doing. By the time you get twisted to do anything you can't see it. hardest part was getting the clamps tightened. I made sure it was routed a nd enough slack for the slide movement in and out.
  • I had a split in my kitchen drain PVC on the slide. When I replaced the split part, I put in a 6" section of flexible hose, that is available at HD or Lowes and eliminated the strain on that part of the plumbing. That was three years ago and no problems since then.
  • I do have access to the wire reinforced hose that was used originally for free at work. Drop pieces that aren't needed for jobs.
Just wondering the easiest access and how to route this so it wouldn't do this again.
  • My 99 has been fine, so far. Knot on wood. I do inspect it but make sure you put back a high end one from a good boat place. Splice it on one end and pull out to the other. Easy to write and not so easy to do. I do have a panel in the back of the cabinet that comes out so maybe you do too.
