  • Are you sure you're not trying to turn this into a for sale by owner post. You mentioned your lower price twice now.

  • No disrespect but you guys just do not get it. Be did not say he was a salesman. He did not say he worked for a dealer. He did not offer to buy it. He did not offer to put it on consignment. He just asked questions. The rv has less miles, in better condition, and $10,000 less than the one he is selling. He only wanted information.

Nothing unusual about dealers calling private sellers. I have my Winnebago moho for sale and have been contacted by several dealers, including La Mesa, to see if I want to sell or consign my moho.

I was told by someone in the industry there is a shortage of clean 1 to 3 year old mohos and dealers are trying to get private sellers to sell theirs to them. Of course, the dealers offer very little and are hoping to come across sellers that are desperate to sell.

Time is always wasted when you're trying to sell something. Would you have given him the same courteous service if he said he was a dealer, or would you have blown him off..:h...Maybe, just maybe, he had a buyer he was working with who came in looking at HIS coach and liked the rig but not the floor plan, so the salesman was trying to satisfy HIS client by seeing if YOUR coach fit HIS clients needs...real estate salespeople do that all the time. Why do you think they sit on open houses..:h...I usually like to give the benefit of doubt to anyone and try not to look for a sinister motive..some salesmen are awesome.....just sayin...Dennis

I am self selling an Itasca Class A motorhome. A gentleman called and inquired about the motorhome. He asked a lot of questions. Condition, miles, number of owners, etc. After the telephone call I looked up the telephone number that had called on google. It said it was La Mesa RV in Sanford, Florida. I then hit the redial button. Sure enough, the receptionist for La Mesa RV answered the call. The person that called did not identify himself as a salesman or that he was calling from an RV dealership. He surely did not explain that the dealership had an RV like mine for sale except for 10,000 dollars more. I resented that call. Others can decide for themselves if they think that is fair salesmanship.
Sorry but I don't see the problem here. He called another seller probably to compare prices. Maybe they thought yours was under priced and they thought about flipping it.

So maybe they wanted to buy it to make some quick cash, or perhaps they were trying to determine if theirs was priced right. What does it matter? Nothing unethical about calling and inquiring.

Would you have resented it if they had brought it?

  • It's difficult not to get too cynical after owning 8 RV's over the years. Purchased our first in 1976. It was a good experience for our first time. That is probably why we kept coming back for more.

Glad you had a great initial experience.

The rubber will meet the road, when, and if you make a purchase.

After the contract is signed and finalized: The Truth Teller reveals itself After the Sale.

Once you purchase, come back and share your after purchase experience.

There are some good dealers, salesman, manufacturers. Sometimes you have to wade through the swamp to find them.

    Maybe you have found them.

    Good Luck.
