Last 4 Day Trip Without R. V.

Our son got married in Chicago (great wedding). All the activities were at Hyatt Regency McCormick Place and the Lakeshore Dr area. This is not an RV friendly area, also not good for dually drivers. So we decided to leave the rv. Even with the best hotels ( Hyatt and Confort suites) DW and I wished for the rv because: 1. living out of a suit case hauling stuff to rooms 2. Familiarity with rv -we know where things are 3 Same bed with a special mattress that we bought for us 4. Food preparation 5 More flexable chech in and out 6 Got washer and dryer in rv could have washed between activities and not bought dirty closes home.

Just curious, why isn't it good for dually drivers?

Nice you son married into a rich family - I know that reception was not cheap and could have bought most people on here a new rig.

Try a 2 bedroom suite at the Bellagio in Las Vegas!.....but, it was a beautiful wedding..:B:B:B..sure did miss the motor home though.....just sayin..."There's no place like home"......Dennis

Amen! No place like home. Just so happens our homes happen to be on wheels!

My first thought was what's a hotel? All but #6 of the above reasons and more apply. As I thought back I realized that I have only used a hotel on four trips since 1988.
  • I was born and raised in Chicago and am frustrated with the total lack of RV sites within 50 mi.
I understand you can dry camp in the truck section of Mc Place, but with all the crime & shootings going on, I don't like the $10hr rent-a-cop program for my security.
Its a shame, a beautiful city that is rapidly declining!
  • Congrats on your son's wedding. Hope it was all they hoped it would be and I wish them a long and happy life together.

I traveled for business constantly. The company I worked for had 300 offices in 45 states and I was the only one that did what I did. I always joked that I did pay rent for an apartment but actually lived in airports and hotels. The stories I could tell you would make your skin crawl, and yes rr2254545, I often stayed at very nice, upscale hotels. If I ever have to get on a plane or stay in a hotel again it will be too soon! Our RV is our castle and I will not stay anywhere else, unless we ever decided to travel overseas again. That would be the one and only exception.

Gee I spent 42 years in the hotel business and you like the RV better than a Hyatt Regency - I like my RV but it does not compare to a 4-5 star hotel.

  • You forgot about the bed bugs that crawled into your suitcase at night and now your bringing them home :E
