- Cobra21ExplorerI have found when I launch with my C, if the landing has a dog leg it can become a real pain. I am putting a front hitch on this spring. It will be easier to back out with my camara when I don't have to jockey a trailer.

Some time back, there was a story that I believed to be true. It seems that the man of the house was going to launch the family boat with the Class C motorhome. His wife was to give him directions on which way to turn to get lined up with the ramp. That did not work so the man and his wife switched duties. She drove and he gave her directions. His directions were correct and when the boat was about to launch, the engine died on the motorhome. The wife was not aware that when the engine dies, the power brakes loose their boost. She allowed the motorhome to slowly but surely roll backwards until the motorhome was afloat before stopping. A wrecker was called to pull the motorhome out of the water. A little pricey adventure. :)
Do you use your rv to launch your boat. Discuss. - tx_racer_67ExplorerThanks,very good replies.
- rlb8sExplorerYes, I launch my bass cat bass boat a lot. It is no different then launching with my truck. It is easier when there is a dock at the ramp. If the dock is away from the ramp it becomes more of a challenge when I am by myself. If I have assistance then it isn't a problem at all.
I have a back up camera, but I find I use the side mirrors more when I am backing up. No issues at all. - harold1946Explorer

If it cant be seen, it has to be behind the motorhome. ;) - midnightsadieExplorer III have a flag that mounts to my fender I can always tell where the trailer is.
- The_LogansExplorerPerhaps this would be the way to do it... :-)

- IAMICHABODExplorer IILike some of the others I have not launched a boat with my Class C. But when I was looking for mine I came across one that had a receiver on the front of it.
When I asked about it the owner said that he used it to launch his boat, which he did almost weekly. After almost losing the RV on a steep and slippery ramp he installed it after seeing it on other trucks.
This way he said that he could see where the boat was going while keeping his drive Wheels on dry land and not submerging the rear of the RV, all in all a much easier and safer way to do it according to him, he seemed very happy with that set up.
Just something to think about. Fiverwheel wrote:
I always wanted to try this with my class A, but I have seen non four wheel drive pickups unable to get up out of slippery ramps.
Your motorhome has probably 2/3 of its weight over the drive wheels, as opposed to well under half with an unloaded pickup. Traction should not be an issue for launching a boat with a motorhome unless the ramp is very steep and slippery.
