A little update.
I called Winnebago, when all else fails, read the manual. They told me that the motor I was seeing was for the slide out locking not the slide itself. Where the motor shows, on the roof of the slide out, is a rubber boot. It gathers the water that gets on the roof of the slide out under the topper. This boot has a drain that comes out the side of the slide near its roof. That drain often gets plugged, and the water will then come in the coach by the motor. I checked the drain and found it filled with wax from earlier this year. The wax hardened and was preventing the water from draining and backing up. At least, this is my hope. We have not had any rain and we are on the road, so I'll wait until I get home to put it to the hose test.
thanks to all
