x2 on that. A metal cover is well worth it for rain and sun protection. A metal cover will enable you to hopefully spot the leak on a trip before it does much damage. When they sit outside all the time, the leaking is more insidious, and by the time you spot it you can have much more costly damage. And as said above, inspect, inspect,inspect. If your going to buy an RV, the first place I go is up on the roof. Then I go inside and look for brown hairlike stains around the vents. Put hand or foot pressure on the panels to see if there is excess give anyway. Smell for any mold or rotted wood. Look under the coach also. To quote an RV salesman " when a motorhome is brought to me for trade, I ask where is the leak, not if there is a leak"
