Leaky fuel tank

A good shop that knows what they are doing could braze the holes if the metal around them is sound.
I have soldered, brazed and welded may fuel tanks including Semi Tanker Trailers.
As long as they know how to clear them it's not that hard.

Since the tanks are plastic, I welded up a frame to carry the weight. No more leaks. The only thing you have to watch for is making sure you choose the correct pickup outlet. The pickup has a check valve, and does not work very well for a return line :).

Would this leaking fuel tank, fall under a safety/fire hazard issue & should it be reported to the proper officals.
Sounds like a recall issue to me, because there never should at any time be a problem with the fuel tank itself leaking.
Connections to the tank, now that is another problem that may come under normal wear & tear used thing.

I was concerned about the replacement tank leaking at the spot welds also. After 4 years it's leak free.
I tried repair first but the fuel sloshing against the baffles flexed the repair and the leak returned.

This is a short term fix. but there is a product called "Seal All" you can get at your local hardware.. It may stop the leaks, for a while. If applied per directions.

NOTE: i would not trust it long term, but it will hold till you run out of fuel enough to drop and swap the tanks.

Also.. SOME radiator shops do fuel tank repairs, there are a couple of ways, one is soldering on patches the other is a chemical liner.. I rather like the liner method.

For 75 gallons, you might have to purchase 3 kits. $260.00???
You will also need to drain and remove the tank, and have a buddy help you spin and shake the tank around for several of the repair steps. It doesn't appear to be overly difficult, but due to the several steps and cure time, the tank will be out of the MH for about a week.

I got a Class C tank here in the Detroit area from Michigan Truck Parts. Probably the same distance as Colaw's, but another place to call.

I'll try Colaw. They are about 400 miles away though. Did you have any problems with the used tank doing the same thing? I was worried that another used one would possibly have the same problem down the road. I guess no place sells new replacement tanks for these? I'm also wondering if anyone has had any luck with getting one repaired?

Had the same issue with my 95 F53. Those spot welds hold in the baffles.

Found a good used tank at Colaw RV Salvage in Carthage, MO.
The tank cost $500 at their door. The freight for a used fuel tank is cost prohibitive. It will fit in the bed of a Ford Ranger PU.
