Learn from my stupidity !!! I did
Motorhome has been in storage for a few days with the propane turned off.......so, did the typical thing. Opened the valve, and fired up the stove top gas burner to purge the line, so I could turn on the refrigerator. I have a 3 burner cook top with one burner in the center towards the front and two in the rear. The corian cover is in two pieces. I always remove both corian covers, but today I left the back portion on and to just expose the front burner. I lit it and purged the line. Turned the frig on and it lit right up. Turned the stove top off and went outside for a couple of minutes. Came back in and the smoke alarm was going off, plus I could smell something. Looked at the burner and it was off but I could see a little smoke coming from underneath the back corian cover. I looked under it and somehow, one of the rear burners was on. I must have open the control knob for it, immediately turned the knob to off. The corian cover was hotter then hot. I grabbed a heat muff and tilted it up so it could cool off. Let me tell you Corian retains heat. I left it like that for a several minutes, then ran cool water over it for several minutes, and it was still warm. I checked it again about an hour later and much to my surprise it was still a little warm...if you ever need a bed warmer, Corian would make a good one LOL. Luckily, the corian cover is fine, a couple of brown spots on the underneath, but the top looks fine.
So, lesson learned, continue doing what I always did prior to today, and remove both front and rear covers of the stop top. Be careful
