Leaving RV for a few days while travelling

We are meeting up with friends in Phoenix area and will leave MH for a few days to take side trip. Will RV parks allow us to that? Any input would be appreciated. Newbie

If you store your coach, make sure that your generator is set to come on in case you lose power at the RV park.

    Good luck,

What happens when the park loses power at 3am and your generator comes on and you aren't there to turn it off?
  • I have seen the rules at many RV parks where they say you can't leave RV's unattended overnight. But that doesn't mean you can't go ask them and hope they say yes. But if they don't allow it, I bet Sky Harbor has a parking lot for oversized vehicles where you could probably leave it.
  • Some will, some won't...depends on the park and their rules. Check with the office. Just because you've paid for the site doesn't mean you can break their rules. You don't want to come back from your trip and find your coach has been towed. Read the park rules, then check with the office and be sure to get the name of the person if they say it's ok...My advice, worth what you paid for it, is do NOT just leave the coach without notifying a ranger or someone from the office. They will need a way to contact you in case of emergency. If it's ok with them, just leave it as you would normally leave it if you were to be gone all day...Dennis

I would definitely leave contact info with the park so they can call you (CELL PHONE) if anything happens...

Your RV Unit will probably be safer thief wise at the camp ground then parked at your friends place.

I would unhook the water from the pedestal for sure... Low heat and fridge only being left on - everything else turned off...

  • Some parks have storage areas where you would be able to pay a fee to leave it.

If you rent an RV space you will be able to leave the RV, It happens all the time. I would let the office know you will be away and how you can be reached just in case there is a problem.

Where we stay during the summer months there are many RVs that are empty during the week and used on the weekends. This is not a RV Park where they have permanent spaces. Every space is daily, weekly or month by month with a maximum 6 month stay.
  • Check their rules. If I remember correctly I have run across some that say you cant leave for more than 24 hours. It's probably one of those rules that if you talk to them and explain what you are doing it will be ok. Shut the city water off, turn the air off and leave it in as safe a condition as possible. Safe meaning the less things operating, the less chance of fire etc.
  • If you are paying for the space. We do it all the time. We shut off water and water heater.
