We are fairly new to the motorhome crowd. Do most of you who flat tow leave the tow bars attached to your MH? I see many in the storage yard who do, minus the wires and cables. Of course most are probably locked. Our Blue Ox were over $700. I have been removing them, but they take up space and a little heavy. Anyone have them stolen? I suppose if locked a thief will probably pass on them. I don't know how easy it would be to pry the locking end cap off.

When not actually using my Adventa II....its locked onto my coach and covered

I leave mine on and the pin is locked.

from what I have seen and heard, a druggie thief will steal any thing tied down or not. over the years I have wondered just how in the heck did they get to that item and steal it. and they will do a lot of damage to your MH while doing it too.

yes, we install the towbar at the start of the season and leave it on until the end of the season. just be sure to lock it to your hitch with a locking pin or padlock. but...be sure you carry the key with you so the towbar can be removed quickly if need be.

I keep our ReadyBrute towbar attached since most of the time we're on the road, we're towing. And when not on the road, the RV is in a locked steel barn. I have a locking pin for both the tow-bar-to-motorhome as well as for the tow-bar-to-car attachment point. If I'm going to be driving the RV a long distance without a toad, I'll put the tow bar in a basement bay but that happens rarely. The bar stays attached to the RV when we are at a campsite.

We leave ours on for the camping season. Take it off for the winter. We use a locking pin and a cover.

My concerned is that locking pin, if they had a large crow bar or pry bar could they pop off that locking end.

OK. I have not had mine off in several years, now that you've told everyone how easy they are to break my lock and steal, I am worried. :)

Seriously, if they want it they'll get it . If I were storing it in a "lot" I might take it off.
