Before I had my driveway re-leveled (tree damage) I had similar wooden ramps made from patio scrap 4x6 from a friend. Bolted not nailed, and lasted for years. My son-in-law made driveway ramps for me from 1/4 inch steel, he owns a welding construction shop, which are indeed great, except they weigh so much I need help moving them about, and he made a special dolly for me to drag them to the street. Yeah, wood is good. Remember, in a diesel, your air brakes are the only thing holding you, so make it secure, and large enough not to slip out.
