Why not just use the jacks in the MH? Why use ramps and jacks?
Many people do just that, use the jacks only. Well, that's certainly up to them, it's their coach.
Sandy and Shirley,
Your plan is flawless. You can make the ramps out of any material you like, based on, intended amount of use in the future, and, are you going to carry them in the coach for use when camping/traveling?
There's all sorts of ways to construct ramps/blocks. Pick your pleasure. But, without a doubt, your thought process is good in the fact that, in the end, and the coach is level, you'll have all six tires and wheels in contact with the ground and, all four jacks extended but, not nearly as much as they would if you didn't supply blocks for them too, and, because of all that contact with the earth, you'll be as stable as a rock for working on/in it. Below you'll see pics of the blocks I did one afternoon.
They're simply (2) 4"x6"x11" pieces, sitting side by side, and then capped top and bottom by exterior use 3/4" plywood, glued and screwed, all together. The use of actual lumber for weight bearing contact points is not normally good. The main reason I say that is, in most cases, through age and, off level surfaces and bridged contact points, lumber, i.e. 2"x10" or, 2"x12" etc., will most certainly crack and in many cases, will simply break.
But, if that lumber is capped by at least 1/2" or, 3/4" plywood, top and bottom, it may still crack under adverse conditions but, it won't go anywhere due to the fact that it's encapsulated. It can crack all it want's but, nothing will happen. And, instead of throwing away your ramps 'cause it cracked and broke, you'll be able to keep them for years to come. Good luck.
