If you liked your old Garmin, I'd go with the RV 760LMT, it's a great unit. Just add a Micro SD card and you'll have plenty of room for map updates later, etc!
Frank,
The point is that Garmin determines when your Lifetime updates will cease and the useful life of your GPS is over. I specifically asked about the download since my 7200 did have enough memory space if the old map was removed AND the 7200 GPS does have a slot to insert a memory chip.
Here is part of my email correspondence:
Due to hardware limitations, the StreetPilot actually cannot support any new map updates even if the hard drive space on the device is cleared. Garmin Lifetime Updater will not be able to successfully download any map updates. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes you.
If you read on the back of your nuMaps Lifetime card, part of the fine print is that Garmin will supply updates for the useful life of the GPS or as long as their software supplier provides updates, which ever is SHORTER.
If you happen to buy a new GPS unit towards the end of their software run, you may only have a short time that you receive updates. A search online finds that I could still buy Lifetime update cards for my StreetPilot 7200, for $64.95, even tho they are totally useless at this point since the Garmin Updater will not allow updates.
