Sally, they're not that hard to change, but like a couple of people said, you need to do a few things. As stated, the silver plate is under the generator. It has a square button that slides opens the plate. You'll find the oil filter and fuel filter. You'll need two line wrenches to loosen the fuel lines. A line wrench looks like this Line Wrench
I don't recall what size the filter requires....I believe one is 5/8" and the other may 1/2" or 7/16". The fittings on the end of the fuel lines are really soft. The line wrenches keep you from stripping the soft material. You can check the size of the fuel line fittings with standard open end wrenches and then go to your local auto parts store and buy the two line wrenches you need in the correct size.
Once the lines are disconnected, they will drip fuel. You need to be ready to install the new filter right away. An old mechanic's trick is to tie a rag around each wrist. It will absorb any fuel running down your arms while changing the filter.
*****Never use a trouble light with a household type bulb to work around fuel. The fuel will pop the bulb and catch fire.
