- korbeExplorerWe lock all exterior doors and cabinets. Main reason is so they don't fly open goin down the road.
- dubdub07ExplorerIs this the Class A forum? I am confused as to why this question is put here. This doesn't apply unless you are pulling a TT with your MH. In that instance, I would lock the TT and not the MH.
WW - wa8yxmExplorer IIIWhen I trailered I locked it.. The Lock bolt (Dead bolt) was independent of the striker bolt so this meant a much stronger latch.. Worked great.
- jfkmkExplorerWe lock the door on out tt and did so when we had our class c as well. In fact, if I recall correctly, there was a sticker on the door of the c that said the door must remain locked and dead bolted while traveling.
As far as worrying about a first responder being able to get into your rig in the event of an emergency, that flimsy lock on your rig isn't going to stop them. Heck, almost every passenger vehicle out there automatically locks and they deal with locked vehicles all the time. - et2Explorerdeleted
- MagillaGorillaExplorerI drive a MH and I don't lock the door. If I need to get out or someone needs to get in they can. I've never had the door pop open when driving so I am not worried about that.
It is my belief that if there is a fire my need to get out is greater than any reason to keep it locked.
As for a TT or 5th Wheel, I would keep it locked. - TvovExplorer III also lock everything to make sure it stays closed. The lock is an added latch, in addition to the the thumb thing.
- HalmfamilyExplorerI lock everything up to ensure they stay closed while traveling and it ensures I checked that door on my walk around. My son did not fully close the outside bedroom door on our last fiver and it opened while stopping in town. That's when I started locking the doors.
- fla-gypsyExplorerIf you crash or a fire starts in a trailer when traveling there's not going to be any thing left to try and save. Going into a burning trailer to save valuables is suicide, if you crash it there will be no reason to unlock a door as it will be in many pieces and you can pick up your valuables from the side of the road if you can find them.
- Old-BiscuitExplorer III5vr...close door and lock it. Compartment doors are locked otherwise they just have 'thumb latch to keep them closed
When we pull into a rest area or stop for fuel or restaurant I don't have to remember to lock it
Fire.........huh?
Have you even seen a RV on fire.............minutes it's a roaring bonfire
My time will be spent yanking hitch handle open and driving away from that blazing heap
