Locked or Unlocked?

I recently purchased a three year old Kar Kaddy SS and have a question. My Prius steering wheel does not lock and the Kar Kaddy is self steering. Do I have to find a way to lock the steering when pulling the Prius?
  • I have a 2011 Ford Edge with keyless ignition. I was advised to lock the steering wheel using the seat belt. I thread the seat belt into the opening at the bottom of the steering wheel before locking it then move the power seat back to take out the slack.

On my last trip when I went to remove the belt I noticed it had pulled the steering wheel down so far it cracked both sides of the spokes that connect to the outer wheel.

Is there any other way to lock the wheels without tie'ing the steering wheel??
  • Thanks for all the replies. I will try using the seat belt to lock the steering wheel.
  • I posted this on another thread from the Demco manual.
Information from Demco website and in manual.
Step 7. Drive vehicle onto the platform - front forward - until
tires touch the wheel stops at the front of each side of the
platform and the platform tilts to a flat position. Make sure the
car is centered on the platform. Towed vehicle tires must fit
in wheel troughs without overhanging sides. Engage towed
vehicle parking brake. Shift loaded car into “park” and lock
steering wheel with front tires in a straight position. If the car
does not have a locking steering column the steering wheel
must be tied securely with front tires in a straight position.
  • I have always had excellent results when I contacted Demco with questions regarding my previous dolly and my current towbar. Give them a call or e-mail.
