Locking DP engine grates?

This might sound ridiculous to some, but we have a diesel pusher with the rear flip open grates to get access to the oil fill, coolant, and trans. I was thinking, since we keep it in a storage yard if someone wanted to play games with the MH a lot of damage could be done without us even knowing it, by adding water or whatever to any of these fill points.

So I said to my wife today I should get a lock. At least if it was cut we'd know something was up.

Anyone else lock theirs?? The more I think about, it I'm going today to get one. Anyone ever have someone do damage to your rig this way? It might sound trivial but at $200,000 plus it makes more and more sense.

True, but aren't most vandalisms crimes of opportunity? Limit access to yours and they go elsewhere? Sux for the next guy, but your home stays safer.
  • Luckily for me I have a lock built into the latching mechanism however a hard tug would probably open it up. Remember, locks are for honest people.
  • I think a small section of chain and a lock will work fine. It can be cut for you at Home Depot. If you want you can always take it off for traveling ( for looks) .
  • In addition to security considerations, when storing outdoors, put a sheet of cardboard in the engine access area on a DP-- keeps the UV from destroying the plastic of the hydraulic reservoir and coolant reservoir.
  • When I was shopping for my MH, I looked at the Forza and was surprised to discover that it didn't lock and that there was nothing to keep someone from reaching inside of the compartment.
  • I've thought of the same thing....but am unable to come up with an idea on what to get and how to install it. Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.
