Looking for a motorhome

I don't think you will find a walk around bed in a 24' unit. There are other brands with a one piece front cap but I don't recall all the ones that do, at least Phoenix Cruiser and Coach House.

tell if she has to have a walk around bed? go to a hotel there not out there , but you chose a MB outfit which is wise they get great fuel mpg and the MB will hold value, after all gas is on its way to $5.bucks a gal.

Such a short unit makes it hard to find a walk-around. We hated the corner bed we had in our 1st motorhome. Everyone to their own but a walk-around is a necessity for us... You may have to go slightly longer...or consider one of the short Class As.

Several manufacturers such as Winnebago show floor plans on their websites. You could look around at some of those and see if you can find what you can live with.

We had the 23XD, but just a bit too small, and no couch... so last year ye traded up to the 26XD. It's only 24 inches longer, but has the separate bathroom, walk-around bed, and dinette. It's also the only one we found that has a 2 year warranty, and seat belts for all 8 seating positions.

Yes, it's a one piece front cap, and the seams are on the bottom, very little chance of a leak.

If you can, take the factory tour, it's free, and really gives you a sense of the quality of the build.

We considered the Mercedes platform, but after talking to other owners, we decided against it. Folks that we talked to said that it was under powered, and expensive to have power train / chassis work done, and difficult to find mechanics on the road.

We went with the Ford E450 chassis, as it's ease to work on and get parts for, has plenty of power and load capacity, and now has the 6 speed transmission (quieter, smoother, and better mileage).

What sealed the deal for us was the factory tour, and the 2 year warranty. NOTE, you can get a REALLY good deal on the 2016 models, now that the 2017's are out!

Walk Around Queen Bed
At least some outside storage
Pantry
Sofa AND Dinette

we were at 31-feet!

There used to be a 27-foot two-slide Winnebago with circular dinette. Don't know about now.

I'd agree with the Thor products being low on the quality/customer service end of the spectrum. Top end??? Of "production" coaches, Winnebago, probably Nexus, Phoenix Cruiser. Ultimate Class C end? Lazy Daze

I think Jayco is one of the better "production" coaches. Like the rest, nowhere near perfect. But I think they're doing a play on words about fiberglass nose cap. Theirs is probably standard, and there's probably an option on at least a few others. I'm thinking the Forest River Sunseeker/Forester and the Fleetwood Tioga models.

A fiberglass ROOF is a very nice thing to have. Used to be on every Winnebago, then a few didn't get them, they may be back. Some Forest River, some Jayco, Nexus, probably more. BUT the way it's implemented is important! If it's crowned for runoff, and rolled down a few inches onto the sides, that's fiberglass roof done right. If it's a flat sheet, installed between edge moldings with sealant, that's not much if any better than the rubber sheet used by most.

We have a typical 27 footer that has a rear bed with access on the right side and at the foot. Bed is crosswise in the rear bedroom. There are a few rigs in this range that have beds mounted with head at back wall and a slide to give access on both sides. It's a PITA to make our bed and to get into and out of without disturbing person on the right. We use a dual Trav-Sac instead of making the bed which helps a little. You can dispense with most RV inconveniences if you buy a behemoth Class A as shown on "Go RV" TV show.

The all elusive "walk around" bed has been an issue at our house for a while. We are van campers but age and ailments are pushing us to look for more comfortable accommodations. The infamous "walk around" bed has been high on our list. We want something short, that we can park in our driveway and is close to the size of the van, which we're use to driving.
Granted it is not for everyone, but we found the Phoenix Cruiser 2100 to be the closest to fit our bill. Small, concise, "walk around" bed and all the amenities we want.
Plan on visiting their plant late June and do some talking.

We found this 28-ft Jayco and like it.

When we got our first coach, it was a 24-ft Class C with cabover bed. It met my requirement at the time, for a bed we could:

1. Access at any time (without making up or unfolding, and

2. Close off from visitors

With only a ladder, we could get up there day or night, no matter what the other was doing, and there was a curtain that let us leave it unmade if we wanted.

But, difficult to make up, and after about 10 years we no longer wanted to climb up and back down. So, looked for a "bed down" coach. If we already HAD one with a Corner Bed, we probably would not have gone for another coach. But since we didn't, we decided to go for what we'd like better than the corner. Not sorry we did, but makes for a long coach...

J-D that is a great floor plan. I really like that it has two chairs.

So far we haven't made time to visit dealers. The one we planned to was closed for the holiday weekend. I was impressed that they closed when three others in the area were advertising sales.
