I am thinking of a class A MH and have been looking at sparton and freightliner chassis. who can give me a honest comparison but you guys. I know some are driving the spartan and some the freight liners. don't hold back on me now, just give me the likes and dislikes of the chassis you are driving, what do you have for an engine, your likes and dislikes, I have looked at all the hype on You tube etc but now I want the real world info. I don't care about the coach other than the chassis right now. I'll get around to the interior and exteriors later. thanks guys
I first look for a side radiator and not so much for the chassis maker, between the two. Can't say, that I've ever seen a Spartan with a rear radiator, so not sure if they even made one. With the older Spartans, you might want a straight axle vs an IFS. The wheel cut will be less and like maybe 47 vs 55 degrees, but any ball joint or boot problems will be eliminated. Doubtful if you'll will notice any difference in the ride, for the most part.
Spartan is pretty big in the Firetruck industry, so have come to be respected for durability. Given the choice, I'd probably go with Spartan, but not a deal breaker, except for the radiator, already mentioned. As an added note, I just have some hoses going to it for a two speed fluid drive fan, so no extra mech. device and belt for this.
