Looking for Dinghy Weighing Less than 4500 but can Tow 7K

In our search for our first Class A, I think we will be going with either a high end gas or entry level Diesel. Either way, the max towing is 5K as we really don't want to get into a used DP for our first foray into Class A.

What we want to go along with the Class A is a towed that weighs less than 4500 pounds, but can tow 7K. Currently, I have a Dodge Dually and once we get the Class A I really won't need this overly large truck. I will, however, still need to tow a trailer occasionally carrying one of our sports cars or landscaping/home stuff.

We did have a Grand Cherokee, however, it was over 5k so would be over the hitch limit of the Class A.

Is there anything out there that would fit what we need?

Thanks in advance.

  • 2015 Chevy Colorado pickup 4 door, 4 wheel drive meets your weight and towing requirements and it towable 4-down. We tow a 2008 Colorado pickup and love it.
  • Just checked the F-150 tow ratings for trucks under 4500lb curb weight (REGULAR CAB 4x4's, the 4x4's should be flat towable) and any engine configuration can tow in excess of 7500lbs
  • I use a 2008 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4x4 with 4.7 V-8, max tow rating is right at 7000# and has a curb weight of 4600lbs. Those specs are pretty damn close to what you were looking for (4500/7500).

Only other option I can think of off top of my head w/o checking MAY be 2015 Ford F150 Regular Cab 4x4 has a curb weight of 4485 (5.0 V-8), and I would bet it can tow 7500lbs.
