How funny. Here is a quick quiz. Do you change the oil on your DP by yourself? It is much easier, cleaner, and faster than changing the tire. If the answer is no (I suspect "no"), then there is NO WAY you are changing your own tire!
Pay a few dollars of insurance to GS (or AAA) and then use it when you need it. And, enjoy searching for those few places where you cannot get cell service.
I intend on doing every maintenance chore it requires. If you are talking about mounting a tire on a rim, no. - WinnipegExplorerHow funny. Here is a quick quiz. I admire the DIY attitude and willingness get your hands dirty. I carry a set of tools and have been known to repair or at least rig things up so I can get it home but changing a tire would be almost last on my list of things I would try.
Working in construction I watched crews of 2 tire changers struggle with 22.5 wheels on truck cranes. It is doable but road side service is so cheap and with a self contained your wait will still be in comfort.
No doubt it would be, but what if you get a flat where no cell service. I am not even 60 yet I can change a flat on these beasts. It's not like you have to lift them. A big torque wrench to get the lugs tight. Impact to get them off. I can see a ring in the compartment where there used to be a spare. BUT!!! I'll give it a dry run to be sure I can handle it before I buy a spare. I will always have insurance to cover these emergencies. - rowekmrExplorerI admire the DIY attitude and willingness get your hands dirty. if your young enough big enough
i'm 5'7" and 124# and almost 70
an't no way i can change one of my 22.5 tires, with out injury
i can use an impact wrench, and i have changed a lot of tires in my life time
but these are too big too heavy for me to unload and reload on the rv, even flat
i'll call road service, IF and when i get a flat
strange but true
this is my 4th class A, the only one with out a spare
and the only one, i've never had a bad tire on
I did have too replace a wheel 'twice'
once three years ago, one developed a crack between center and rim
and this year one developed a rust leak and was losing air
but never had to have a tire changed on the road
with This DP
I have a good impact wrench, after all it has air on board. I need a good jack.I'll just store the spare in one compartment, it not like I have to lift it.
U need a 3/4 inch impact wrench on 22.5 wheels and 450 lbs torque
the air brake system in a diesel pusher will never(not) support such tools end of story m - wvabeerExplorer

No spare!!!! whats up with this?
Seldom will you find a place for carrying a spare 22.5" tire without sacrifice, although it would be nice.
Just be sure to have COACHNET or other, road hazard insurance before you leave the driveway.
Have you figured out which engine you're getting, as yet?
Most like seeing around 10HP per foot of coach, but there's many out there, getting along just fine, with less.
You can also figure about 11 to 12HP per 1000lbs. which usually figures out to be about the same and this is more than adequate.
Unless you're a NASCAR driver and like to practice with the coach, while going to and from events.
It is a 300, the owner of the rv place didn't know what he was talking about. I think I'll get a spare and a jack. I do not want to be dependent on someone else if I can help it.
You're kidding right? The first time you need towed for any amount, you'll be paying for years of road service and forgetting any changing of tires out in the traffic. - Bruce_BrownModeratorFor more information on the MH you are considering, click for the 1999 Newmar Dutch Star Brochure.
As an FYI, good choice. Our first new MH was a 2000 Dutch Star gasser, we've owned (2) more new ones since, both Kountry Star DPs, if we ever buy again it will be another Newmar. - MrWizardModerator"I think I'll get a spare and a jack. makes sense as that's what the factory themselves claims it comes with (300HP);; as far as a spare to each their own you will also need heavy duty large tools also to remove lug nuts and re-torque to 450lbs
I been driving Diesel pusher MH for 12 years and never had a flat so I just go with GS tow package besides where does a person put a thing that big and Heavy like where will u store it??
