Alaska ? I would opt for a truck camper for 4x4 capability and ground clearance. Small enough to park and sightsee.
Short wheel base 'A' or 'C' MH's : Research suspension upgrades for short wheelbase MH's . Many people are not happy with handling and upgrades are common. Rear track bars, shocks, steering stabilizers and upgraded front and rear sway bars.
Class A or C , I guess it depends if you want a drivers door or not. Try to find a unit with a large enough fuel tank. Some small 'C' units do not have a 55 but a 40 gal tank.
When I was 'C' shopping I tried to find one with enough underbelly clearance with a sloped upward rear overhang , because I go off grid a little on dirt roads and it helps navigating driveway aprons.
I also wanted a unit with a spare tire due to off road travel. I have hydraulic jacks as well that I can use to lift the MH to change a tire on my own.
I also went looking for a Ford or GM and ended up with a Ford due the vast network of dealerships and garages willing to work on it. I like the power of the V-10 and the 6 speed tranny is awesome.
