Loss of 120 volt power in the rv.

Did you look at the outside plug?

Do you have a voltmeter? Remember, 120v can kill so be careful. If you have never worked with 120v you should consider having an electrician find the problem.

If it was me, I would check for voltage at the breaker in the RV. If none there, I would check for voltage at the RV end of the power cord.

Maybe the plug is disconnected from the cord, or maybe the pedestal has a problem. You did turn the breaker on the pedestal on?

Some breakers look as if they are on when they are off. Don't just look at the breaker, turn it off and on.

Is there a generator, and does it work? Did you check the automatic transfer switch?

Do you have an on board genset? Does it have a transfer switch? Did you start it and see if the rig gets power from it?
I doubt whether then manual is correct as some items normally do not operate through a GFCI.

X2. Definitely reset the breakers.

One of the worst things an uninformed DIY'er can encounter is a bad breaker. Power comes in the cord, goes into the breaker and does not come out!

Lots of other things can be wrong, but bad breaker is not expected.

Did you test the GFCI by trying to trip it, and then reset? GFCI plugs can fail in numerous clever ways; but if you can trip it and then reset it, it's generally OK. If it's tripped, and the reset button won't cause a "click" when power is applied (that is, you have to be plugged in to shore power), then one possibility is that the GFCI needs replacement. But you should pull the fixture out and test for power with a multimeter, to confirm that you are getting power to the GFCI, before assuming it's bad.

But if you're not comfy with electricity, it's time to (a) take it to the RV shop, or (b) find a friend who is both comfy and competent with electricity, and see what treats s/he needs for an afternoon of diagnostic work. Beer, chocolate ice cream, etc.

To properly reset a breaker, you must turn it off applying light pressure toward off, then turn it on.

The power cord can get disconnected at the box where it comes into the RV. There is a lot of physical stress on those connections from handling the cord.

Another place connections go bad will be screw terminals at the buss bars in the breaker box. Vibration from driving loosens those.

Are you back home plugged into your house with the RV?

First I would test 'where' you are plugged into.
Buy one of these, a couple of bucks at Lowe's. Nothing to be scared about using it. Error codes clearly defined for any novice.I leave this tester plugged in above the sink in the RV all the time just in case the incoming power changes or creates a fault.

And makes for easy testing to just see if you have AC power.


Here's a list of some of the testing you can do yourself.

1. GFI's can go bad. They appear like they are working when you push the button but they are tired and many have to be replaced even if the reset button still works.

2. Go into your converter box and shut off all the breakers and then turn them all back on. I had it where one tripped but not all the way so at a glance it looked fine, even thought the micro wouldn't work.

3. If the tester says you have power where you plug in with no defaults. Then take the tester inside and plug it into your outlets.

The reset button worked just fine. Wasn't until I smelled wires burning did I find this behind it!!
