We've lost a front center hubcap and need replacement. We have a Freightliner chassis on our 2000 Holiday Rambler with 22.5inch wheels. Any idea's on where to start our search? Thanks
debandi,
Well, the answer is very simple. Since you have a Freightliner chassis, give any Freightliner service center a call, have the last 6 of your VIN with you, they will ask for them, they will then tell you EXACTLY what was on your coach as it left the manufacturer. That will include any and all "hub caps" too.
Ours came with a "Freightliner" emblem (black plastic) in the center of it. Well, no truck stop EVER that I've seen, has that same exact cap. So, I ordered it from the Freightliner service center. Had it in my hot little hand in about 24 hours, a total of about $30.00 for the right front.
Now, a little tip here. Many of those domed front hub cabs come with little metal tabs on them that are the mechanism for retaining them onto the wheel. The tabs can get weak. And, even the new ones, on the new cap, were not holding it on that secure. So, I removed it, "tweaked" the tabs so they had a tighter purchase on the wheel and, all has been well since.
