Odd that the ECM didn't shut off fuel to the engine. Since it didn't my guess is that it went into an unstable state and rebooted upon start up (as suggested by fortytwo above). Maybe ask ford if there's a software update available. You may not be running the latest version. If it's not the software I would probably disconnect the battery for awhile and then reconnect it as a reset.
The closest thing I've experienced to this is when a faulty crankshaft sensor told the module the engine wasn't turning and it shut down fuel and everything else.
