Low cost gas?

Here in Mass gas in no name stations are running around $2.05 per gallon, a lot less @ BJ's, while in big name stations are 15 to 20 cents higher. Feels good at low cost gas when filling a 80 gallon tank. Question is this gas bad for my motor or should I fill at Gulf, Shell, Exxon with all there so called add on stuf to clean your motor parts. is cheep gas not a good deal.

PS I ust to load Fuel oil trucks, all the tankers loading gas were at the same gas rack with different names or no name.

  • I buy by price (except Citgo) and my cars have never had a fuel problem. My favorite brand is always the lowest price.

    Yep, basically gasoline is gasoline.
I'm happy with the cheap stuff.

And when they were filling your tanker, did they not also add additives for the brand the tanker would be unloaded at? All brands of fuel will advertise their additives to do this or that...but when it comes right down to it, they are all basically the same.

In addition, today's electronic controlled engines will adjust the spark, timing, and fuel/air mixture to the octane of fuel being used....so even those vehicles that recommend higher octane fuel will run just fine off of the lower octane stuff.

So the bottom line is...go for there (sic) cheep (sic) stuff...it will work just fine.

  • I've been buying the cheapest fuel in the area my whole life, what include high-performance luxury cars as well.
The only problem I had with fuel was over 20 years ago, at the time when stations had single wall underground tanks.
One time I suck rusty water with fuel and had to drain tank.
I buy the cheapest fuel but am trying to avoid stations with little traffic.
Costco in CA usually is having the lowest prices and there is always long waiting line.
  • And you never added the secret ingredient that a major had in their formulation?

Anyone else remember the skit Robin Williams did about adding the secret ingredient to a certain brand of whiskey?
