Low Fuel For Generator In Fifth Wheel

A friend of mine is having trouble starting his generator. Is having low fuel a factor!
It will not even turn over? This unit is in a fifth wheel

  • Most of the fifth wheel generators I have seen are fueled from the propane tanks.
Please define what you mean by "It will not even turn over?"
It appears that to some people it means when you push the START button nothing happens. To others it means it cranks but will not fire.
If nothing happens, check the battery(s) and the cable connections.
If it cranks but will not fire, check the oil first. If it is low on oil, the safety interlock shuts off the ignition.
If, in fact, it is propane fueled, make sure at least one of the propane tanks is turned on, and it has propane in it.
There may be a solenoid operated propane valve near the generator in the fuel line. Make sure it is working.
Check the ignition spark. If there is none, either something has gone bad in the ignition system, or there is a safety interlock somewhere that is not allowing it to work.
If it is an Onan generator, your best might be to take it to a Cummins/Onan facility and have it looked at.

Not a fuel issue if it won't turn over.
Check the electricals. (Battery, starter etc)
