Low gear appears to be gone..
94 Brave 27RC with 454 chevy engine apparently has lost the low gear. 110,000 total miles. I can still drive but nervous about moving it unless absolutely necessary. I live in Florida where it is real...

It sounds like a shift solenoid (if that model has one). I know on that year Chevy trucks had the solenoids. The same symptoms happened on my '94 GMC. Have someone who really knows this transmission really check it out. Solenoids are only about $20, easy to change and when you do the fluid and filter change, have the solenoid changed at the same time.
I have a sports car with the 4L80E transmission which sometimes won't go into first gear. I plan to change the 1-2 shift solenoid when I get time as that is probably the problem. The wiring harness for the solenoid is also a common failure. That transmission is well known in the racing world and can be turned into a 5 or 6 speed automatic.
