No won't hurt the "engine" but it swells the gaskets to stop the leak. It doesn't just stop there, it keeps reacting on all the gaskets over time to a point they all deteriorate. Anyway that's what happened when I used it to cure a small leak. Cost me 1400 bucks to have all the gaskets replaced it came in contact with in my jeep. That was my result....never again.
