MagneShade

Help!

I'm considering a MagneShade for the Winnie and looking for comments (good and bad) on their effectiveness and ease of installation.
  • I've had my Magneshades for a couple of years now, and absolutely love them. I think I've convinced a lot of people to get them when we are at a campground and they see how easy they are to put on and take off. Once, a magnet fell off my driver side window (My fault - I opened the window too far, and knocked it off myself). Instead of getting a replacement from the manufacturer, I just went to Home Depot and got a pack of rare earth magnets the same size for under $5. Oh, and I cut a short piece of dowel rod and laid it in the window track so I can't open the window too far and knock that magnet off again.
  • I have a Magna Shade and love it. Pricy but well made. I think the patent may be running out soon as they have been around a long time and then there will be cheaper knock-offs available. Right now I think the are the finest sun screen available and very easy to install and remove. Don't hesitate, you'll be happy.
  • I have had Magna Shades for 4 yrs on a Newmar Moutain Aire. Very happy with them and they do not blow off. Once in an extreme wind a side window shade did start to lift (I likely could have examined the shade to see if magnet was properly aligned but too windy). I make a habit of removing them when storing as to expensive to replace. The supplier is very accommodating and has supplied extra magnets when requested and in short order. As you can see by their website custom designs are available. I have used my shades throughout the southern US and across western Canada and never hesitate to recommend them. As reported they are easy to install however I sometimes use a ladder to ensure a proper fit but the magnets are very forgiving and a ladder is not necessary.
  • I also have the Magna Shade for the windshield as well as driver and passenger windows. Easy to install one person. No ladder needed. looks great and does a very good job.
  • I have the Magna Shade. We love it. It looks good and is really effective at blocking the heat. Installation is easy with two people. The only difficulty that may come in is if you have cabinets or an internal shade that is close to the windshield. You have to get magnets glued at the top of the windshield. What worked well for us was using a thin piece of wood (cold be anything non-metallic), stick the magnet to it with double sided tape, second person holds the shade in the correct position outside, slide the wood up inside until the two magnets grab. I left the shade on for an hour or two to give the glue on the inner magnet time to set up. It takes longer to describe than it does to install each magnet. It has worked fine for two years. When setting up it takes two or three minutes to install the shade, no ladder needed and under a minute to take off.
  • Great product. Held on by very strong magnets. I had five of their shades on my last RV....driver's window, wind shield, door and pass windows and a custom shade that covered two side windows. Expensive, but you get what you pay for.
