Changing brake fluid is an "every 2-3 year" thing.
Brake fluid starts out clear. As it absorbs moisture (to protect the iron components of the brake system), it starts to darken. Light tan an is marginally OK. Darker means big bucks for repairs.
AND, new brake fluid boils about 500 degrees F. Hydrated brake fluid boils at 278 degrees F. If temperature in any part of the brake system exceeds boiling point, brake effectiveness goes away!
