Majestic 19G renos have started

Well I have done some renos to the motor home, a couple are smaller but two of the bigger ones are carpet and underlay and a tray placed in the empty spot where the generator goes.

The carpet is the same as what I had in the TCer, makes it seem more like home. REALLY shocked at how warm the floor was in the camper without the carpet but with carpet and underlay it is warmer and helps to dull any noises. One thing I learned from the TCer was to leave it a little larger than what I need as it seems to shrink once installed, will leave it for a few months then trim to an exact size.

The second big thing was to get a tray made to go where the generator would have gone. I was going to get the generator but at $4000 it seemed like a waste when I can get a portable one for $1200 or use the one that I have till it dies. PLUS with more battery power I could go camping without the generator and know that I could get through the night without an issue using the furnace.

The plan was to get a tray to hold an additional group 31 battery but when I measured it out I told the guy making it to put it all the way across. Then when I went for the batteries I decided that I would get 4 6V and use them (Each battery has 235AH). The 6V fit with NO extra space from front to back like we knew what we were doing. ONLY issue is that I now have a battery tray that is of no use to me. Think I may clean it out and find a small tool box to put there with some emergency tools and supplies.

    I DO HAVE SOLAR :h :h :B

It is so small that it is solar by name but that is it, it is about 8"x12" panel and I cannot even find out how many watts, probably 3 or 5 :-) Would love a larger panel but the real estate is tight on the roof, it is on the list if I can get one to fit but have been really impressed on how fast it charges from the engine. Has a good size wire coming to the battery from the alt so charges about 3X as fast as the TCer did.

Here is the panel - It does keep the batteries topped up from phantom draws but that seems to be it.

It looks like that you are getting that Former Rental personalized to your specs and needs to make it more livable and to suit your needs.

Nice job, keep us all up to date on what else you do,it may help others that have or might consider buying a Former Rental, the posabilities are endless.

  • Yeah, one battery is useless except for being on hookups.

I don't know what I would do in your situation without a genset. We don't use ours that often. And when we do, it's only for a few minutes, usually for the microwave. But your 4 batts and a good inverter can do that. And then carry our Honda 2000 for long runs. Yes, I think that is what I would do.

    Carry on.
